Correspondence, deeds, tax records, legal documents, receipts, printed materials, and other papers of Nathaniel (1725-1787), sheriff; his son, Nathaniel (1765-1851), sheriff, justice of the peace, and part owner of a local mill; his brother Israel (1771-1853) who with the younger Nathaniel was involved in banking, lumber, and livestock trade; and Israel's sons, Nathaniel (1824-1851) and Israel (1826-1903) Matson, chiefly concerning the financial dealings of the Matson brothers between 1790 and their deaths in the 1850s.
